Great Lakes Potash Inc. (formerly Michigan Potash Inc.) is a junior exploration and development company. Our project is focused on the exploration of high-grade potash deposits and to develop a potash resource within the State of Michigan.
Great Lakes Potash has a 100% interest in 31,361.7 acres of state leases for potash in the State of Michigan. The project is located within the central part of the Michigan Basin that is currently solution-mined for potash by Mosaic.
As global population increases, potash fertilizers become increasingly important to improve crop yields. World demand for potash is increasing 3 to 3.5% annually with the United States being one of the top four consumers of potash, including Brazil, India and China, in the world. The United States produces only 17% of its current potash demand and requires a domestic source to augment its growing consumption going forward.
